Spread the Cheer - Edible Arrangements

Today, my daughters and I played Santa's helpers! We delivered 30 Edible Arrangements to the families in the Sibley Heart Center's CICU at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Today marks exactly 9 years to the day Jordyn passed away in that very unit. To return to the hospital spreading cheer was the most amazing feeling in the world. For years, I avoided that place at all cost ( and I still do), but I know just what those families are going through. It is extremely difficult spending the holidays in the hospital with a sick child, and I can only hope the fresh fruit baskets brightened someone's day.

Jia may need a repair of her pulmonary valve one day in the future, and we may be spending more time in the sleep pods. I feel blessed to be able to be a blessing to someone else. I am extremely thankful to Edible Arrangements for donating the arrangements to the families during this holiday season.

Costume Ball 2013

October 27, 2013 - Costume Ball 2013 presented by Colby Red Wines raised over $5,000 for Congenital Heart Disease research while raising awareness in Georgia.
This was my very first fundraiser as president of The Children's Heart Foundation - Georgia chapter. Colby Red Wine generously sponsored the event and donated cases of their signature red wine. Hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist, Dwight Phillips, guest enjoyed the "Colby Red Wine Olympic Games." Sponsors of this event included Zoo Atlanta, Nalley BMW, Chateau Elan, Leapin' Lizard and The Bledsoe Brothers just to name a few. Sommeliers from Unparalleled Taste assisted with the games, El Azteca served up a delicious Mexican buffet and DJ Lion kept us dancing to the Halloween classics.

iMarc Atlanta supplied a Photo Booth providing guests with a souvenir of the event. The silent auction was a hit and contributed to the success of the event. Contestants in the Colby Red Wine trivia game and ring toss won gift cards from various restaurants in the area.

Everyone had a great time, and I look forward to making the costume ball an annual event!

Sibley Kids At Heart Fall Festival

We had an awesome time at The Sibley Kids at Heart Fall Festival! Hosted by Children Healthcare of Atlanta's  Sibley Heart Center, the fall festival was open to families who have a child or children with congenital heart defects. The day was packed with fun and gave families the opportunity to spend quality time together while mixing and mingling with other heart families. The girls had a blast on the hay ride, watching the pig race and feeding the farm animals.

The day doubled as a Kids at Heart calendar photo shoot to benefit the Sibley Heart Center Beads of Courage program. Jia is featured in the 2014 Calendar as little Miss June.:)

The venue for the event, Southern Belle Farms, is a 200 acre working farm in McDonough, Georgia.  Their delicious kettle corn (made from corn grown on the farm) is now a family favorite!

I'm so thankful for the Kids at Heart program! Our family always has a wonderful time creating memories and meeting new friends!
